Job Title: Audio Visual Technician

We are seeking a skilled Audio Visual Technician to join our team at Planet Technology. As an Audio Visual Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support for various large-scale live events on campus, including concerts, theatrical productions, and sporting events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead setup and manage audiovisual equipment for on-campus events, ensuring performance and quality.
  • Provide technical support for virtual conferences and hybrid meetings.
  • Understand and execute technical requirements for diverse events, including timely equipment setup and operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and installation of audiovisual gear.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, while effectively communicating with the team and management.

Requirements:

  • Exposure to AV/Tech Support – theatre experience etc.
  • Familiarity with theater stage lighting equipment, including ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls) Lighting consoles and EOS software programming.
  • Basic knowledge of moving light technology and programming.
  • Proficiency in operating digital audio mixing consoles like Midas and Allen & Heath.
  • Proficient in managing hybrid meetings across video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.
  • Some experience or familiarity with audiovisual technology in live events.
  • Quick learning and adaptability with new audiovisual equipment and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and collaborative abilities.

Work Schedule:

This part-time role requires flexibility, particularly for events in the early mornings or late evenings. Monthly hours generally range from 20 to 35, with the busiest periods in the spring (April through June) and fall (October through December). This variable schedule reflects the cyclical nature of campus events, ensuring adaptability during quieter times.

Equally comfortable working with kids of all ages or computers of all ages.

Ready to say "I don't know, but I'll find out" and demonstrate follow-through

Willing to stop to tie a shoe, provide gentle guidance for lunchroom behavior, or help an Upper School student with an independent project.

Technical Environment:

Desktop –80% macs, some chromebooks and ipads

Printers – mostly HP, cannon on copier side

Network – 90% wifi, 10% connected in – lots of wifi issues

Company/team size: IT Team – associate director, network, and technical support. 2 part-time FTEs; 3 are teaching faculty;

Campus is 775 students, 210 adults in the building
