Job Title: Audio Visual Technician

Join The New York Public Library team as an Audio Visual Technician, responsible for setting up, operating, and breaking down audio and video equipment for events hosted by the library.

Responsibilities:
  • Advanced operation of audio mixers, including digital and analog systems.
  • Multi-track audio recording and video recording and editing.
  • Operating professional video cameras and video switchers.
  • Setting up and striking live production audio and video equipment, including cable management, loudspeakers, microphones, and stage lighting.
  • General production multi-tasking and operation of basic lighting, audio, and video equipment without support from other technicians.
  • Live stream broadcasting directing and assisting non-technical library colleagues with A/V requests.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 6 years of live audio experience, preferably with A1 or A2 certification.
  • Minimum of 6 years of basic live video production experience, preferably with camera operation experience.
  • Solid understanding of audio and video signal flow and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Competence in Adobe Suites, including Premiere and Audition, and ability to work with PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Suites.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow instructions as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be proactive, and handle pressure in high-profile settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with live event production and virtual events broadcasting to Zoom and YouTube.
  • Experience with Crestron, Qsys, and Extron devices.
  • Experience with accessibility technologies, such as live captioning and transcripts.
Work Environment:

  • Events, programs, and meetings
Physical Duties:
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs. required
  • May require travel within NYC
