The University of California is seeking a highly skilled Operational Pharmacy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting health through the safe and effective use of medications.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and manage drug regimens for appropriateness of choice
- Teach patients and their caregivers how to use medications safely and effectively
- Help patients and their caregivers take an active role in managing their drug therapy
- Advocate for patients' safe and effective use of medications to other healthcare decision-makers
- Monitor and evaluate patients for appropriate therapeutic outcomes
- Review individual patients' records to ensure that drug therapy is appropriate
- Develop pharmaceutical care plans
- Disseminate drug information to healthcare professionals
- Participate in patient care conferences
- Participate in the design and completion of patient drug use reviews, audits, and other drug-related studies and projects
- Must have graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy and possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) or equivalent degree as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy
- For graduates in a non-US country or jurisdiction, pharmacists must have earned a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy
- Preferred qualifications include a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD), completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, or at least 3 years of inpatient/operational pharmacy experience, and hold an advanced practice board certification (e.g., Board of Pharmacy Specialty certificates, AAHIVP, etc.)
