The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our team in the Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL). As a key member of our Materials Science Department, you will be responsible for leading research and development efforts in the field of polymer materials and composites.
Key Responsibilities- Lead research and development efforts in polymer materials and composites
- Develop and implement new materials and processes to improve the performance and efficiency of aerospace systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate materials and processes into aerospace systems
- Conduct experiments and analyze data to optimize material properties and performance
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports
- Present research findings and results to internal and external stakeholders
- PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in materials science and engineering
- Strong background in polymer materials and composites
- Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and materials characterization
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with advanced materials and processes, such as nanomaterials and 3D printing
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations
- Experience with project management and leadership
