Job Summary

The Richmond County School System is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Adapted Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities, working collaboratively with general education teachers to ensure inclusive learning environments.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other educational plans, ensuring that students receive tailored support to meet their unique needs.
  • Assess student progress, using data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions to drive student growth and achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Supervise and support paraprofessionals and instructional assistants, providing guidance and coaching to ensure that they are equipped to support students effectively.
  • Participate in professional development activities, staying up-to-date on best practices in special education and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs that promote student success and well-being.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Georgia state certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an inclusive setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt instructional programs and materials to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
Working Conditions
