Position Summary
We are looking for a Surgical Care Specialist to join our team and help us maintain our commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient surgical care.

Key Responsibilities
As a Surgical Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional surgical services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the circulating perioperative nurse during surgical procedures.
  • Preparing and maintaining sterile supplies and equipment, ensuring a sterile field is upheld.
  • Assisting the surgeon by providing sterile instruments and supplies promptly and safely.
  • Adhering to current AORN and regulatory standards, as well as established policies and procedures.

What You Will Do:
- Plan and gather necessary equipment and supplies for assigned procedures based on physician preferences and patient needs.
- Prepare equipment according to manufacturer specifications for surgical use.
- Open sterile packs and instruments following established aseptic techniques.
- Monitor the sterile field during procedures and take corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare medications and solutions under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, following physician orders.
- Maintain accountability for instruments, sponges, and sharps throughout the surgical process to prevent foreign object retention.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from a surgical technologist program or equivalent experience in a hospital setting (for those hired prior to specific regulatory changes).
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist is required for those entering practice after specific dates.
