Role Overview:
As a Senior Applied Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Experimentation and Development:
    You will oversee the complete model development lifecycle, advocating for best practices to ensure reproducible research and efficient software delivery.
  • Collaboration:
    As part of a cross-functional team, you will share insights, appreciate diverse perspectives, and work effectively with colleagues worldwide. You will also mentor and uplift your teammates.

    With a strong sense of urgency and a desire to thrive in a dynamic setting, you will convert intricate business challenges into projects with well-defined scopes. You will be responsible for timely and well-organized deliverables.

    As a proactive communicator, you will enthusiastically share your work, articulating ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will play a key role in promoting AI adoption throughout the organization.

Candidate Profile:
You are an ideal candidate for the Senior Applied Scientist position if you possess:
- A PhD in a relevant field or a Master’s degree with equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in developing NLP/IR/ML systems, from concept to production.
- Strong software engineering capabilities for prototyping.

Preferred qualifications include:
- 8 years of practical experience in building IR, ML, or NLP systems in academic or industrial settings.
- Proven ability to translate advanced research into functional prototypes and experience in experimenting with innovative IR or NLP models to tackle real-world challenges.
- Experience in fast-paced, agile environments, adept at managing uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Excellent communication skills and data-driven decision-making in collaboration with Product and Business Stakeholders.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in delivering minimum viable products in large enterprise contexts.
- Publications in relevant conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, SIGIR, KDD, or similar.
