About the Role

Erie Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Property Claims Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Claims Department, you will be responsible for handling large commercial and personal property claims assignments in a designated region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and/or direct the investigation of commercial property claims, interviewing insureds, claimants, and others as required.
  • Inspect property damage, review information to prepare estimates, evaluate and make recommendations regarding coverage of claims, determine liability and total value of claims, and negotiate settlements.
  • Determine all available coverage for risk and ERIE's liability and establish total value of loss, identifying all subrogation potential.
  • Review information to prepare estimates and arrange for repairs of insured losses, settle loss, and maintain complete file documentation.
  • Communicate with insureds or Agents regarding settlement and/or adjustment, direct activity of necessary experts, and work directly with department manager to develop and implement new policies and procedures for the department.
  • Meet with management as requested to analyze regional and branch performance and make recommendations for changes, assist in training new Employees and property claims specialists in the branches when requested by claims manager, and work with regional CAT coordinators to coordinate CAT teams for property losses.
  • Serve as consultant to the branch offices on commercial property claims, exercising independent discretion and judgment in the handling of large commercial and personal property claims assignments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Seven years experience in property adjusting required, working knowledge of Windows software required.
  • AIC designation or CPCU 3 or 4 preferred, appropriate license as required by state, valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment, driving, manual keying/data entry/inputting information/computer use, and climbing/accessing heights.
