Position Overview:

TRC is on the lookout for a proactive and driven Operations Manager to oversee technical operations and office management for our expanding Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Testing and Maintenance Practice in the Gulf Region.

This role involves direct client engagement and relationship building while providing technical guidance to a team of technicians and engineers. The Operations Manager will establish procedures and deliver services that align with client contract stipulations and specifications. This position will lead office personnel to achieve client and C&I practice objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a hands-on approach, combining management expertise with technical acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary duties include:

  • Direct and manage multiple teams across our regional offices to deliver engineering, testing, and commissioning projects for our clientele.
  • Foster and maintain robust client relationships to ensure that deliverables consistently meet or surpass expectations.
  • Collaborate with clients to formulate policies, procedures, and quality standards that align with their requirements and enhance the effectiveness of our outputs.
  • Oversee staff across various offices and manage daily administrative functions in coordination with the Director or Office Practice Lead of C&I.
  • Work closely with office supervisors to develop resource plans, design criteria, and client proposals for our engineering, testing, and commissioning services.
  • Build strong partnerships with other C&I and Testing and Commissioning (T&C) offices and sectors within TRC to expand business opportunities.
  • Travel as necessary to cultivate new client relationships and manage solicitations for new engineering projects.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to monitor operational and financial performance as required.
Qualifications:

LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably electrical engineering, or equivalent experience in distribution utility engineering or C&I/T&C project management.
  • Proven management and leadership capabilities, coupled with creativity and a technical background to enhance the C&I business.
  • Team-oriented and forward-thinking management style.
  • Hands-on management experience in a dynamic consulting environment with a keen focus on detail and client service.
  • Successful track record in developing and executing plans, managing budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to senior management and convey information clearly to staff and clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of engineering, testing, and commissioning standards, as well as basic regulatory and specification guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading an engineering, testing, and commissioning team to achieve set goals and objectives.
  • Experience in providing professional services to the electric utility sector.
  • Ability to manage employee performance and capabilities to optimize regional effectiveness while ensuring adequate staffing for projects.
  • Manage financial metrics including revenues, overheads, net income, and gross margin to meet or exceed profitability and quality targets.
  • Ensure that weekly billable and utilization goals are achieved as per project guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to TRC's Code of Safe Practices and manage these standards for staff. Responsible for quality assurance and control of engineering deliverables to clients, ensuring all client quality expectations are met.
  • Exhibit professionalism and leadership to staff and clients, fostering cooperation through credibility and integrity.
  • Encourage enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to TRC's mission, effectively resolving conflicts with staff.
  • Promote teamwork and positive morale among staff members.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with underground and overhead systems.
  • Experience managing client relationships.
  • Ability to supervise various disciplines of TRC personnel.
  • This position requires oversight and travel to multiple regional offices and client sites.
  • Occasional regional and national travel for client meetings or training may be necessary.
