Executive Director of Care Management

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Executive Director of Care Management to lead our Care Management team at the University of New Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing development, direction, supervision, and administration of Care Management, Social Work, Infusion, and Hospice services. This role will serve as the primary collaborator between department directors, hospital administrators, and physicians, developing strategic and operational plans for areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing or a related field, with at least 4 years of directly related experience. The RN in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement is required within 60 days. The selected candidate will be subject to an annual contract and performance appraisal.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to managers and staff
• Develop strategic and operational plans for areas of responsibility
• Support education and research
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical and healthcare system staff to ensure effective, results-oriented outcomes
• Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
• Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops
• Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols
• Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
• Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
• Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and/or near misses in a timely manner
• Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may 'not seem right'

Requirements:
• Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field
• RN in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement within 60 days
• At least 4 years of directly related experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment

Working Conditions:
• Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly
• Subject to an annual contract and performance appraisal
• Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE
