Job Title: Undergraduate Program Academic Advisor

Join the University of Washington's School of Nursing as an Undergraduate Program Academic Advisor and play a pivotal role in supporting undergraduate nursing students through their respective programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic advising services to undergraduate nursing students, including individual and group sessions, to ensure successful student progression through the BSN and ABSN programs.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Undergraduate Program Director, Office of Clinical Placements, and program faculty, to ensure adherence to best practices and standards set forth by the National Academic Advising Association.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student satisfaction and retention, including quarterly academic advising sessions and annual student progress reviews.
  • Manage daily administrative operations for both undergraduate programs, including registration, course and curriculum progress, licensure, and degree completion issues.
  • Serve as a liaison to undergraduate student groups and support the School's undergraduate Coordinating Committee.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, nursing, or a relevant field.
  • 3 years of demonstrated student services experience and applicable administrative experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an intentional desire to work with people of various racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education, nursing, or a related field.
  • Prior student advising or student and academic experience in a higher education setting.
  • Understanding of UW's academic advising resources and familiarity with Canvas and other learning technology platforms.
