Job Title: Undergraduate Program Academic Adviser

The University of Washington is seeking a highly motivated and organized Undergraduate Program Academic Adviser to join our team in the School of Nursing. As a key member of our Student Services team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting undergraduate nursing students through their respective programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic advising services to undergraduate nursing students, including individual and group advising sessions, tracking academic progression, and ensuring adherence to UW and School of Nursing requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders in the school, including the Undergraduate Program Director, Office of Clinical Placements, and program faculty to ensure successful student progression through the respective programs.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and facilitate quarterly academic advising sessions for current and incoming students.
  • Lead individual and group student advising sessions, assess program satisfaction, and consult on academic issues as needed.
  • Manage all daily administrative operations for both undergraduate programs – ABSN & BSN.
  • Lead and inform students about the registration process for their respective programs and work with the SoN curriculum team to ensure all registration is accurate and current.
  • Advise enrolled students on registration, course & curriculum progress, licensure, and degree completion issues.
  • Serve as a key member in Connected Teaching meetings, provide insight to faculty about SoN & UW guidelines and policies that will support progression in the undergraduate programs.
  • Co-lead the development and annual update of the Undergraduate Student Handbook.
  • Manage DARS audits and graduation application processing.
  • Inform undergraduate students about the NCLEX process and initiate and oversee the coordination of the licensure process via NCLEX application process.
  • Serve as a primary reviewer for ABSN & BSN admission applications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, nursing, or a relevant field.
  • 3 years of demonstrated student services experience and applicable administrative experience.
  • Proficiency with most Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • An intentional desire to work with people of various racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Desire to collaborate.
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative on tasks/projects.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education, nursing, or related field.
  • Prior student advising or student and academic experience in a higher education setting.
  • Understanding of UW's academic advising resources.
  • Familiarity with the UW advising guidelines, tools, and resources.
  • Familiarity with Canvas and other learning technology platforms.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Normal work hours of 8am-5pm, with occasional weekend and evening commitments.
  • Hybrid work of up to 40% remote may be approved after onboarding and training are complete.
