Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor plays a vital role in supporting individuals facing challenges related to substance use, including those with concurrent severe mental health conditions. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, providing diagnostic impressions, and delivering evidence-based outpatient treatment tailored to the needs of clients, in alignment with established licensing regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment methodologies approved by the HHSC/TAC for the Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program under the guidance of the Treatment Program Director.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable state and federal laws, as well as contractual and licensing obligations associated with the Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to formulate effective treatment plans that reflect the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Texoma Community Center.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work is mandatory; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Completion of coursework for the Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or an equivalent graduate program, along with active participation in or completion of internship hours, or possession of a valid LCDC, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Counselor Intern, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or LCSW Intern credential.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges is advantageous.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for work-related duties.
  • Current licensure as an LCDC, LCDC Intern, LPC, LPC Intern, LCSW, or LCSW Intern.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the population served is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
