The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing these functions while meeting the mission and goals of the organization and all regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate medical record numbers and complete medical necessity / compliance checks
  • Provide proper patient instructions and collect insurance information
  • Receive and process physician orders and utilize an overlay tool
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
  • Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service in interactions with patients and staff
  • Hold accountability for point of service goals as assigned
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected
  • Conduct audits of accounts and assure that all forms are completed accurately and timely
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to patient visits and collect point of service collections
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients and obtain necessary signatures
  • Review eligibility responses in insurance verification system and select applicable insurance plan code

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire
