Core Responsibilities: The Career Navigator plays a vital role in connecting employers with skilled candidates by enhancing the capabilities of local job seekers through strategic planning, program services, and suitable referrals. This position is integral to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) initiatives, including programs for Youth, Adults, and Dislocated Workers.
Key Duties:
- Facilitates connections between job seekers and available positions leading to successful employment outcomes.
- Assists businesses in attracting and selecting top talent for their vacancies.
- Conducts interviews with clients to identify their service requirements.
- Guides clients in formulating, assessing, and effectively executing plans to improve their employment skills.
- Recognizes barriers faced by job seekers and directs them to appropriate support resources.
- Offers career guidance through the creation of personalized employment plans, job referrals, and access to training or educational opportunities.
- Implements established program procedures and maintains accurate case management.
- Provides continuous case management and acts as a liaison between clients and service providers.
- Records all client interactions with detailed and clear case notes.
- Stays informed about market research tools and industry trends to assist job seekers in finding suitable placements or educational paths.
- Ensures compliance of case files with programmatic standards.
- Delivers prompt and effective service to both job seekers and employers.
- Exhibits Extreme Customer Service principles in all interactions with clients and partners.
Additional Responsibilities: This job description is not exhaustive. The employee may be asked to undertake other reasonable related tasks as assigned by their supervisor or management as necessary. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: The role requires the ability to carry/lift up to 5 pounds frequently, up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds occasionally. The position demands visual acuity, effective communication skills, and manual dexterity for operating office equipment and vehicles. The working environment is primarily office-based with occasional travel to various locations.
Required Skills: A strong focus on customer service, eagerness to learn, excellent communication skills, teamwork orientation, technical proficiency, and experience in recruitment.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Human Resources, Communications, Business, or a related field is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of two years in staffing, recruiting, or workforce development is required, with at least one year of experience in data entry and review using computer systems. Previous experience in workforce development or case management is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service aptitude, and proficiency in computer usage.
Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of employment and recruitment practices; ability to assess customer employability skills and gaps effectively; understanding and application of program policies; familiarity with business practices and industry sectors; capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment; strong understanding of regulatory entities and their guidelines; ability to interpret written procedures; capability to prepare routine reports; proficiency in data entry; and maintaining files in accordance with programmatic standards.
Additional Requirements: A valid driver's license and sufficient vehicle insurance coverage are necessary.
