Job Title: Eligibility Specialist

Join the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago team as an Eligibility Specialist, where you will play a vital role in supporting child care seekers, providers, and families in navigating the Child Care Assistance Program.

Job Summary:

The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for ensuring that child care providers and families meet the eligibility requirements for the Child Care Assistance Program. This involves conducting thorough assessments, gathering necessary documentation, and making determinations on eligibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of child care providers and families to determine eligibility for the Child Care Assistance Program.
  • Gather and review necessary documentation, including fingerprints and background checks.
  • Make determinations on eligibility and communicate decisions to providers and families.
  • Provide guidance and support to providers and families on the application process and program requirements.
  • Manage and monitor cases to ensure compliance with program regulations and requirements.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or two years of customer service experience.
  • Current knowledge of the field of Early Childhood and of issues relevant to the position, supported by 15 hours of continuing education in the field annually.
  • One to three years of prior customer service experience.
  • Keen problem-solving skills and strong relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:

The work environment includes offices or virtual settings, with occasional visits from members and their children. The noise level is moderate, and movement requirements include walking, stooping, or kneeling. Normal vision range and ability to see color are necessary for the work, which may require close viewing. Reasonable accommodations may be made for an incumbent to meet the essential responsibilities of the position.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
