Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomy and Customer Service Specialist to join our team at Norlanco Outpatient Lab in Elizabethtown, PA. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support while ensuring the highest level of accuracy and efficiency in our laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection in an ambulatory setting, validating patient identity and specimen integrity.
  • Document all stages of specimen collection in required computer systems, including investigating and processing orders, receiving specimens, canceling tests, and producing reconciliation reports.
  • Maintain clinical skills necessary to perform duties, including phlebotomy, EKG, holter monitors, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection.
  • Provide complete and accurate patient registration, including walk-in, check-in, and scheduled appointments, demonstrating ability to adapt during high volumes and patient acuity.
  • Support inbound and outbound calls to or from patients, guests, or appropriate parties, screening and accurately relaying messages using established protocols.
  • Verify patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account information, performing required referral/authorization processes and entering orders for applicable tests.
  • Understand insurance company coverage and referral/authorization requirements, performing electronic and manual verification of insurance coverage and applying electronic insurance responses.
  • Prepare and/or release records or orders in the e-Health record, scanning necessary documents into the medical record.
  • Complete assigned patient scheduling and registration work queues according to performance standards, resolving work queue issues and missing registration items via electronic medical record.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of educational requirements, including formal education/training, maximum supervision for initial competency, yearly competency evaluation, and training.
  • CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, required within 30 days of hire.
  • One (1) year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization.
  • One (1) year experience with basic keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office setting equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous phlebotomy or registration experience, with training provided upon hire.
  • One (1) year of Epic (or equivalent Electronic Medical Record) experience.
