Job Overview

Position: Automotive Worker Mech II

Role Summary: We are looking for a proficient and knowledgeable Automotive Worker Mech II to carry out a range of minor repairs and services to ensure the optimal performance of motor vehicles. The ideal candidate will be tasked with duties such as battery replacements, tire rotations and repairs, cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors, and providing assistance during major overhaul projects. This role also encompasses field-level maintenance on U.S. Military automotive equipment, adhering to technical specifications and repair timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct minor repairs and services on motor vehicles.
  • Apply and maintain decals on vehicles.
  • Inspect and replace batteries as needed.
  • Rotate, repair, and replace tires efficiently.
  • Thoroughly wash, polish, and clean vehicle interiors and exteriors.
  • Drain, flush, and replace engine, transmission, and differential fluids.
  • Examine, clean, calibrate, and replace spark plugs.
  • Change oil and air filters as required.
  • Adjust braking systems.
  • Replace windshield wipers and other minor components.
  • Assist in major overhaul tasks by disassembling and cleaning parts.
  • Repair components such as generators and water pumps.
  • Replace thermostats, electrical wiring, and other necessary items.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring clean work areas.
  • Utilize personal and government-furnished tools for preventative maintenance and general repairs on automotive tactical and combat equipment.
  • Perform field-level maintenance on U.S. Military automotive equipment, including inspections, parts identification, requisitioning, servicing, and repairs.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation in line with regulations.
  • Handle hazardous materials and waste responsibly during duties.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous materials handling and disposal.
  • Manage the movement of materials and assets using forklifts and dollies.
  • Be prepared to deploy for equipment issuing or receipt upon government notification.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Access to local base facilities.
  • A minimum of 4 years of directly related work experience.
  • Completion of a vocational training program or related field.
  • Certification from a basic automotive maintenance course.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical instructions, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Possession of personal tools that meet the required tool list.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for 2 to 3 hours daily.
  • Ability to walk for 4 to 5 hours daily.
  • Capability to lift weights ranging from 35 lbs. to 50 lbs. periodically.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend, reach, and climb as necessary.
  • Comfortable working in both outdoor and indoor non-climate-controlled environments.
