Position Overview
The Lead SCADA Solutions Engineer is an integral member of the NPI Controls Engineering Team within GE Vernova, contributing to the development and implementation of SCADA and secure networking solutions tailored for the Solar & Storage Solutions sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with clients and team members to devise comprehensive solutions that align with business and customer goals.
- Develop architecture and design documentation for data acquisition and control systems.
- Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard critical infrastructure.
- Utilize standard communication protocols, including IEC61850, DNP3, and Modbus, to interface with various GE and third-party devices.
- Conduct configuration and factory acceptance testing of electronic devices, gateways, network switches, firewalls, and routers to ensure effective solutions.
- Assist customers with equipment installation, including site acceptance testing and commissioning at industrial or utility facilities.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, and Engineering subcontractors. This includes mentoring less experienced engineers and applying extensive technical knowledge to influence policy and strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with SCADA systems.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in industrial HMI platforms and UI/UX design.
- Familiarity with HTML5 and/or React/JavaScript.
- Experience in database creation, such as SQL.
- Knowledge of GE's MarkVIe product family and Cimplicity software (SCADA).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve technical challenges.
- Competence in documenting, planning, and executing programs.
- Understanding of communication networks (copper, fiber optics) and their design, software, and hardware.
- Familiarity with industrial protocols like OPC-UA and Modbus, as well as messaging protocols such as MQTT.
- Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is a plus.
- Experience working collaboratively across Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Product Management teams.
