Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior-Level SCADA Engineer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As a key member of our Electric Grid Infrastructure Services business unit, you will design, configure, and implement substation SCADA and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop SCADA systems to address operational requirements and emerging trends.
  • Configure and implement communication block diagrams, panel layout drawings, and SCADA AC & DC schematics.
  • Provide reviews and design input for P&C drawings and SCADA system requirements.
  • Develop points lists for data transferred between RTUs, IEDs, and master station connections.
  • Configure Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and programmable automation controllers (PACs).
  • Program Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
  • Coordinate with relay settings engineers to develop and review communication port settings.
  • Develop network device configurations for switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Perform troubleshooting of SCADA system network and communication systems.
  • Develop SCADA system and network documentation.
  • Develop automation tools to improve project efficiency.
  • Stage, configure, and test integrated systems designs.
  • Ensure adherence to NERC standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • 7 years of experience in design, configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting of substation SCADA and communication systems.
  • Experience with SEL, Novatech, and GE RTUs and software.
  • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN devices and topology.
  • Knowledge of DNP, Modbus, SEL, IEC-61850 protocols.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with communication troubleshooting software/hardware.
  • Protective relay settings experience.
  • Radio communications experience.
  • Network design credentials.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Familiar with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards and Cyber-Security.
