General Overview:
The Patient Observer plays a vital role in providing continuous surveillance and support to patients who require close monitoring for medical or behavioral reasons. This essential position is focused on ensuring patient safety and comfort during their care, necessitating a compassionate approach and a commitment to fostering a secure environment. Additionally, this role includes offering support to the patient's family and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver ongoing observation to uphold patient safety.
- Maintain composure and communicate effectively with patients.
- Verbally redirect patients from engaging in risky behaviors.
- Alert nursing staff when necessary.
- Monitor and prevent incidents of self-harm.
- Request assistance for any changes in patient condition.
- Initiate CPR procedures when required.
- Adhere to infection control protocols.
- Keep patient rooms and work areas organized.
- Engage patients in suitable activities.
- Exhibit professionalism, exceptional customer service, and teamwork.
- Ensure patient safety and participate in mandatory education and training.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Prior experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics is advantageous.
- Exhibit maturity, sound judgment, and sensitivity towards individuals.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and multitasking capabilities.
- Possess a team-oriented mindset while also being able to work independently.
