Position Summary:

General Overview:
The Patient Observer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients who require close monitoring due to medical or behavioral conditions. This essential position demands a compassionate approach and a commitment to fostering a secure environment for patients. Additionally, the observer provides support to the families and visitors of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts continuous observation to uphold patient safety.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor and communicates effectively with patients.
  • Verbal redirection of patients from potentially harmful behaviors.
  • Alerts nursing staff as necessary.
  • Monitors and intervenes to prevent self-harm incidents.
  • Requests assistance for any changes in patient conditions.
  • Initiates CPR procedures when required.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols.
  • Keeps patient rooms and workspaces organized.
  • Engages patients in suitable activities.
  • Exhibits professionalism, exceptional customer service, and teamwork.
  • Ensures patient safety and participates in mandatory training and education.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Understanding of proper body mechanics is advantageous.
  • Exhibits maturity, sound judgment, and sensitivity towards individuals.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the capability to work independently.
