The Patient Observer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients who require close monitoring due to medical or behavioral conditions. This essential position demands a compassionate approach and a commitment to fostering a secure environment for patients. Additionally, the observer provides support to the families and visitors of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts continuous observation to uphold patient safety.
- Maintains a calm demeanor and communicates effectively with patients.
- Verbal redirection of patients from potentially harmful behaviors.
- Alerts nursing staff as necessary.
- Monitors and intervenes to prevent self-harm incidents.
- Requests assistance for any changes in patient conditions.
- Initiates CPR procedures when required.
- Adheres to infection control protocols.
- Keeps patient rooms and workspaces organized.
- Engages patients in suitable activities.
- Exhibits professionalism, exceptional customer service, and teamwork.
- Ensures patient safety and participates in mandatory training and education.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Prior experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Understanding of proper body mechanics is advantageous.
- Exhibits maturity, sound judgment, and sensitivity towards individuals.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Team-oriented mindset with the capability to work independently.
