We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Round Rock, TX. As a Building Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that residential buildings in our city meet the necessary safety and building codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Educate builders and contractors on inspection processes and provide guidance on how to meet code requirements.
  • Handle stressful situations in a professional manner and ensure the integrity of products for end-users.
  • Adjust schedules for homeowners and contractors as needed.
  • Ensure proper licenses and permits are in place for contractors.
  • Perform residential and commercial irrigation inspections, meeting with contractors on site and educating them on inspection processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of current codes and ordinances by communicating with other inspectors and providing an open atmosphere for contractors and the public.
  • Carry out CDBG-Housing repairs/rehabilitation programs, engaging in initial walk-throughs with owners and directors, and writing up and answering questions.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in the building industry working in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, concrete, framing, or energy fields.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain a Combination Inspector and state Plumber Inspector license within 2 years.
