Recovery Mentor Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Recovery Mentor Specialist to join our team at the Neighborhood Service Organization. This role is ideal for individuals who have overcome mental health challenges, substance use disorder, or homelessness, and are passionate about empowering others on their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain trust with clients by sharing your personal experience and expertise in recovery, promoting mutual support and respect.
- Mentor clients in navigating community mental health services, empowering them to take control of their lives.
- Model healthy behaviors and skills that foster community participation and inclusion.
- Attend support groups with clients, providing guidance and encouragement along the way.
- Provide follow-up services to ensure clients receive ongoing support and resources.
- Participate in team meetings, sharing insights and updates to inform consumer care plans.
- Collaborate with clinic case managers to develop and monitor person-centered plans.
- Document services provided accurately and efficiently, adhering to NSO policy guidelines.
- Contribute to creating a safe and supportive environment for clients, staff, and the broader community.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 1 year of experience utilizing community mental health services.
- Prior experience as a Peer Support Specialist is preferred, but willingness to obtain certification is also valued.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- A valid Michigan driver's license, auto insurance, and a driving record that meets NSO background check standards.
