SUMMARY: The Client Advocate at the Carolyn Williams Center (CWC) plays a vital role in supporting the Transitional Housing Program (TLP) for young men. This position is dedicated to helping residents achieve personal and financial independence by addressing various challenges that hinder self-sufficiency. A primary objective of this role is to assist clients in securing permanent housing and acquiring essential life skills to mitigate the risk of future homelessness. The CWC Client Advocate fosters a supportive atmosphere that emphasizes safety, structure, crisis intervention, advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving with residents. The ideal candidate will establish a professional rapport with residents through empathy, respect, and a non-judgmental approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Case Management:

  • Assist in developing and executing personalized case plans aimed at promoting client self-sufficiency and success.
  • Gather necessary information to support clients, including employment records and medical documentation, to determine eligibility for community programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including case notes and progress reports, in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Provide referrals and facilitate access to community or governmental resources for clients.
  • Model and instruct clients in fundamental life skills essential for independent living.
  • Plan and conduct Life Skills workshops for CWC residents.
  • Encourage and support client engagement in all program and housing activities.
  • Oversee daily operations within the Center, ensuring the safety and security of clients, staff, and property, while enforcing program rules.
  • Ensure timely communication with residents and volunteers.
  • Uphold client confidentiality and privacy in all interactions.
  • Compile required statistics for weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Build partnerships to enhance client outreach and service quality.
  • Participate in case coordination meetings, sharing insights and concerns with housing leadership.
  • Promote organizational goals through presentations and tours.

Property Management:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure safety and maintenance.
  • Report maintenance needs to the Facilities team promptly.
  • Collaborate with clients and staff to maintain a clean and safe environment within the facility.
  • Ensure the property is consistently well-maintained and ready for tours.
  • Monitor non-resident activity within the premises.

Additional Duties:

  • Manage food and supply inventory in the pantry.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Housing Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in adult case management or support roles.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance as per company policy.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Service-oriented mindset, demonstrating patience and a willingness to assist others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong active listening and social perception skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position primarily involves working in a well-lit, climate-controlled office environment.
  • Moderate physical activity is required, with a focus on administrative tasks.
  • Occasional high-stress situations may arise.
  • Weekend availability is mandatory, with flexibility for additional shifts preferred. Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours issues is also required.
