Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at ECMC. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-register and register patients using computer information systems
  • Enter orders, obtain patient results, schedule patient appointments, and gather demographic information
  • Obtain and verify insurance information, including completion of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire
  • Verify third-party payers using telephone or online verification systems
  • Determine insurance co-payments due from patients and collect required amounts
  • Utilize electronic medical records to process physician orders and referrals
  • Provide feedback to staff on missing or incorrect information
  • Perform point-of-care testing and document results
  • Obtain and record vital signs and report abnormal findings to Registered Nurses
  • Process and distribute incoming facsimiles
  • Stock exam rooms, order medical supplies, and check and change sharp containers as needed
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
  • Completion of a one-year Medical Office Assistant Program or equivalent experience
  • Possession of a Medical Office Assistant Certification within 12 months of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and to adapt to new products and procedures in a timely manner. The successful candidate will be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency and to utilize a variety of electronic software applications.
