Role Summary:
CMA is seeking a dedicated Water Resources Engineer to contribute to Aviation and Transportation projects. This role involves executing hydraulic calculations for both closed drainage systems and open channel designs, analyzing stormwater management facilities, conducting water quality modeling, and navigating stormwater permitting processes through various regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective teamwork, and a commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in diverse civil engineering design tasks, including plan preparation, permitting, and construction oversight within a collaborative project team.
  • Contribute to projects by gathering existing utility data, performing modeling and simulations, and executing site grading and erosion control designs.
  • Create project design drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads software.
  • Develop detailed project-specific drawings and assist in the preparation of technical specifications, cost estimates, reports, and schedules.
  • Learn and comply with client-specific standards while coordinating effectively with team members and client representatives.
  • Conduct field investigations and provide construction support through periodic site visits.
  • Oversee project outlines, initiation, scheduling, execution, and closeout processes.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams and perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for stormwater management.
  • Prepare documentation for permit applications and conduct permit research and reviews.
  • Support and cross-train with other civil engineering disciplines as time allows.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience is acceptable; 2-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Experience in transportation, aviation, and land development/site design projects is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, ICPR, and HY8 is preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing and organizational skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated initiative, project responsibility, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of FDOT or other state transportation agency standards.
  • Familiarity with FAA drainage criteria.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply complex systems.
