Position Summary
CMA is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to contribute to Aviation and Transportation projects. The role involves performing hydraulic calculations for both closed drainage systems and open channel designs, analyzing stormwater management facilities, conducting water quality modeling, managing stormwater permitting through regulatory agencies, and designing erosion control measures for Aviation and Transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in various aspects of civil engineering design, including plan preparation, permitting, and construction oversight within a collaborative project team.
  • Contribute to projects by collecting existing utility data, performing modeling and simulations, and executing site grading and erosion control designs.
  • Create project design drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads.
  • Develop detailed project-specific drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, cost estimates, reports, and schedules.
  • Adhere to client-specific standards and coordinate effectively with team members and client representatives.
  • Travel periodically to project sites for field investigations and construction support.
  • Manage project outlines, initiation, schedules, execution, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for open channel designs, storm sewer systems, and culverts.
  • Perform water quality and quantity calculations for stormwater management designs.
  • Prepare necessary permit application documentation and conduct permit research and reviews.
  • Support and cross-train with other civil disciplines as time allows.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience considered; 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Experience with transportation, aviation, and land development/site design projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, ICPR, and HY8 is advantageous.
  • Excellent technical writing and organizational skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, project responsibility, and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of FDOT or other state transportation agency standards.
  • Familiarity with FAA drainage criteria.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply complex systems.
