Job OverviewThe selected candidate will engage in research within Professor Jane Kent's Muscle Physiology Lab, part of the Kinesiology Department, focusing on an NIH-funded initiative examining muscle function and the aging process.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for supporting the execution of various studies, analyzing and presenting research findings, overseeing student researchers, and actively participating in the dissemination of research outcomes through conferences and publications.
Collaboration with all team members, including the Project Coordinator, is essential. The researcher will also attend weekly lab meetings with Dr. Kent and her team, as well as monthly project-wide meetings.
Key Responsibilities- Implement research studies aligned with the Principal Investigator's program.
- Conduct data collection and perform comprehensive analysis.
- Review relevant literature to support research initiatives.
- Supervise student researchers involved in the project.
- Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, presentations, and reports related to the research.
- Ensure compliance with IRB and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate research activities with faculty co-investigators and their teams.
- Regularly meet with the Principal Investigator to assess project progress.
- PhD in muscle physiology or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Proven track record of publishing research and presenting at academic conferences.
- Experience working collaboratively within a research team.
- Proficiency in data management and visualization using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of muscle metabolism.
- Familiarity with aging and muscle physiology literature.
- Statistical analysis expertise.
- Experience mentoring both graduate and undergraduate researchers.
- Understanding of IRB protocols and human subjects research.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, R, or similar programming tools.
NIH Postdoctoral Stipend
Additional InformationThis position typically operates in an office/lab environment, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
