Job Description

The Department of Kinesiology at UMass Amherst invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to contribute to the delivery of our undergraduate and graduate curricula. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic department to deliver student-centered learning experiences in-person and online. The typical course load is equivalent to 3-4 courses per semester, with adjustments for large class sizes and assigned service work. Service work may include participating on department, school, and university committees, as assigned by the department chair.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Kinesiology, with a focus on strength and conditioning
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods and materials
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment
  • Participate in departmental and university service activities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • Content expertise in strength and conditioning, human performance, and data analytics
  • Previous teaching experience as an instructor of record for academic courses
  • Translational, hands-on experience in the field of Kinesiology or a related discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Potential for fostering equity and inclusion and evidence of working in a diverse team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • Certification from ACSM, NSCA, or other related professional organization
  • Experience with collaborations and innovative pedagogical approaches

Salary and Benefits

UMass Amherst offers a competitive salary with an attractive benefits package for Lecturer faculty. The minimum starting salary for an academic year (9-month) full-time appointment at the rank of Lecturer is $57,000, with actual salary dependent upon experience, and potential opportunity for additional compensation for summer and winter educational activities.
