Job Overview:
The Facility Maintenance Technician is tasked with ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of equipment, facilities, and surrounding areas. This role is commonly known as a Janitor and may involve additional responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cleaning tasks, including using compressed air and other methods to maintain plant equipment.
  • Perform scrubbing, sanitizing, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping duties.
  • Manage waste disposal, clean spills, replace air fresheners, change light bulbs, secure premises, paint, maintain water coolers, and prepare facilities for events.
  • Clean offices, restrooms, break areas, and other spaces.
  • Assist in moving furniture, supplies, textiles, or equipment within departments or to storage.
  • Apply pest control measures, trim shrubs, and perform outdoor maintenance, including clearing walkways of snow or leaves.
  • Engage in safety programs, utilize Personal Protective Equipment as necessary, and report repair needs or safety hazards to supervisors.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, monitor cleaning supplies, and restock as needed.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks for moving, transferring, loading, and unloading tasks.
  • Consistently meet efficiency and safety standards for the role.
  • Follow instructions as directed by supervisors.
  • Keep work areas organized and clean.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in other production roles as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to recognize colors and sizes, and accurately count and sort items.
  • In certain locations, certification to safely operate powered industrial trucks may be required.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning products and procedures, or willingness to learn.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple tasks and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work independently and follow written or verbal instructions.

Education:

  • No formal education requirement.

Typical Physical Activity:

  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, working in confined spaces, overhead reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting up to 90 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs., and stooping.


Typical Environmental Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings of a typical industrial laundry facility, involving interaction with large machinery, general office environments, and exposure to varying temperatures, odors, humidity, lint, and dust.
