Role Summary:
As a Junior Merchandise Manager, you will be the category leader responsible for driving the assortment strategy under the guidance of the Senior Merchant, Buying Manager, or DMM.

The Junior Merchandise Manager will exercise independent judgment in developing merchandise assortments for a designated segment of the business, managing an open-to-buy focused on specific categories.

This role involves creating the ideal merchandise mix by analyzing emerging market trends while aligning with the assortment strategies set by management.

You will facilitate cross-functional collaboration across Design, Production, Planning, and Allocation, ensuring timely completion of all milestone meetings and fulfilling the requirements necessary for successful product launches.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze weekly sales and inventory reports to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the business.

2. Familiarize yourself with the department's merchandising strategy to curate a product line that accurately reflects the brand.

3. Engage in weekly open-to-buy meetings with Planning & Allocation, providing analytical feedback to help the department meet financial targets for turnover and sell-through rates.

4. Source samples from vendors and in-house designers for style evaluations.

5. Participate in fittings to assess the hanger appeal of garments, ensuring their marketability.

6. Negotiate product quality, purchase quantities, landed costs, and delivery timelines with vendors.

7. Coordinate internally and externally to meet all production requirements.

8. Ensure accurate submission of all related documentation: testing forms, packing instructions, compliance certificates, etc.

9. Maintain a library of best-selling styles, materials, and colors; regularly update on-order spreadsheets and boards.

Qualifications:
- A BFA or a related degree is required.

- 2-3 years of buying experience in a specialty retail environment is essential.

- A strong passion for the fashion industry and the ability to identify fashion trends is necessary.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is mandatory.

- Strong knowledge of retail mathematics and analytical skills is essential.

- A solid understanding of industry trends and market dynamics is crucial.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment is important.

ADDITIONAL DATA:
The salary range for this position is $69,563 - $75,283 annually. Pay is determined by various factors, including the position offered and work experience.

In addition to your salary, Forever 21 and its affiliated brands offer a benefits package that includes a 401(k) plan, overtime pay, a flexible work schedule, and a generous employee discount program (all benefits are based on eligibility).
