POSITION DESCRIPTION
Define the scope of technical initiatives and devise effective, high-quality solutions to unique or challenging problems. Innovatively meet all organizational and industry standards while applying site systems to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes. Provide valuable guidance and support to junior professionals on related tasks.
Utilize technical expertise in your specialization or broad-based experience across multiple technical domains to tackle complex challenges.

Integrate advanced technical practices and various intricate features, including specialized materials or processes, into problem-solving and program planning.

Lead efforts in determining solutions to complex issues and be recognized as an authority in your technical field(s).

Offer direction and assume responsibility both within and outside departmental lines on programs that seek innovative approaches to challenges and new applications of existing engineering or scientific principles.

Assess program outcomes and prepare reports and recommendations based on these evaluations.
Identify and propose enhancements where existing technology components and methodologies fall short.
Stay informed about advancements in technology relevant to your area of expertise. Develop plans that include schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for addressing technical tasks identified by management.
Monitor project schedules, track progress, oversee budget expenditures, and review the quality of work performed.
Effectively communicate results and objectives both verbally and in written formats to clients, colleagues, and management.
Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.
Enhance your expertise through leadership roles in local technical societies.
Demonstrate innovative capabilities through patent disclosures, problem-solving initiatives, engineering reports, technical papers, and articles.

DUTIES (SPECIFIC FOR THE POSTING)
Provide design engineering support to SRNS.

Key responsibilities include engineering analysis, walkdowns, design development, and the creation of design output documents, including but not limited to:

P&IDs; Control Logics; Loop Diagrams; Instrument Indices; Setpoint Lists; Instrument and Control Valve Specifications; DCS and PLC Design; Instrument Location and Installation Design; Panel Layouts; and Vendor Document Review.

Engineering services will be delivered following SRNS processes and procedures, with programmatic guidance provided by SRNS.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience. OR A Master's degree with 8+ years of experience. OR A Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience or more.

Position specific:

Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, I&C Engineering, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in one of the aforementioned disciplines.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to thrive in a diverse work environment.
Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug screening.

Candidate must possess a minimum of ten (10) years of direct I&C design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or process chemical industry.

Candidate must demonstrate design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs, and distributed control systems. Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is required.

Candidate must be capable of conducting weekly field walkdowns of the job site for the engineering work being performed.

These walkdowns may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and ongoing work, walking distances exceeding half a mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing in protective clothing and environments requiring a respirator.

Candidate must demonstrate experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs, and distributed control systems.
Proficiency in MicroStation 2D CADD.

Desired Qualifications
Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is preferred.
Previous relevant experience at SRS is preferred.

LOCATION
This position will be on-site.
