Position Overview:
The Healthcare Customer Service Specialist plays a vital role in the patient experience by collecting essential information related to payment arrangements and insurance verification. This position operates independently under general supervision to ensure that all scheduled patients are pre-registered for their upcoming services, while also registering patients upon their arrival at the clinic. Responsibilities include verifying insurance benefits and collecting necessary patient payments. When time allows, the specialist will assist with patient check-out and scheduling follow-up appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-register and register all scheduled patients for their services.
- Scan and upload registration documents and insurance cards into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Conduct thorough insurance verification to confirm benefits and eligibility.
- Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and any outstanding balances due from patients.
- Accurately schedule patients in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Manage inbound calls and direct them appropriately when necessary.
- Facilitate patient check-out after their clinic visit is complete.
- Coordinate future appointments, consultations, and testing in a timely manner.
- Uphold professional ethics by maintaining confidentiality regarding personal, financial, and medical information of patients and their families.
- Engage with patients in a courteous and positive manner during the registration and check-out processes.
- Address inquiries related to patient billing and refer to the Financial Navigator as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
