Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney I to join our team at Hays County, TX. As a key member of our Criminal District Attorney's Office, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the county and its officials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Render legal opinions to the County Judge and Commissioners on matters relating to county government.
  • Function as an assistant legal counsel to the Commissioners Court.
  • Research and draft legal documents, including ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to the county in civil and criminal matters.
  • Assist in the prosecution of child protection cases and represent the state in bond and asset forfeiture cases.
  • Represent the county in mental health cases and provide legal advice on environmental law concerns.
  • Respond to public information requests and draft requests for ruling to the Texas Attorney General.
  • Advises and interacts with law enforcement agencies on a broad array of legal issues.
  • Plan and conduct casework, including negotiations and trial preparation.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Capable of handling complex cases and matters with supervision.
