About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyst to join our team at Applied Research Associates. As a GIS analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients across the United States by providing technical expertise in GIS data analysis, mapping, and spatial modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain spatial and relational databases to support data analysis and visualization
  • Develop and implement GIS software routines to facilitate data analysis and processing
  • Produce high-quality maps and visualizations to communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Design and implement user-friendly interfaces and applications using various programming languages
  • Prepare and present technical reports and research findings to clients and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field, such as Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, Surveying, Geography, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or Remote Sensing
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience, including proficiency with ESRI software suite and ArcGIS Online
  • Strong understanding of geodatabases, geoprocessing tools, and topology rules
  • Experience with Python scripting and/or artificial intelligence for data processing
  • Knowledge of open-source GIS software, such as QGIS
  • Interest in solving spatial problems using scripts, models, and other techniques
  • Understanding of LiDAR point clouds and data
  • Basic knowledge of database systems and queries using SQL
