Financial Controller Job Description

The Controller plays a vital role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in managing the financial operations of a growing nonprofit organization in Honolulu. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced professional to oversee the treasury, financial reporting, and analysis functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial management systems and processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Direct and manage the accounting operations, including financial statement preparation, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial roles.
  • Proven ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with Federal funding, single audit, and 990 preparations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA and/or Master of Accounting.
  • Experience or interest in environmental conservation and/or youth development.
  • Experience with Nexonia and Sage Intacct.
