Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant I/II to join our Finance and Accounting team at HEMIC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing day-to-day operational duties, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and accounting research and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accounts payable, claim payments, fixed asset records, and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries for approval and postings, and review invoices and expense reports for accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Review and analyze budget variances, and suggest process improvement initiatives to enhance current processes.
  • Document and update accounting procedures and process standards, and collaborate with vendors and customers to resolve inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Support other internal teams and external partners with their accounting-related and operational needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or comparable experience, and/or 2+ years (level I) or 3+ years (level II) experience in accounting using GAAP with statutory accounting procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic (level I) or advanced (level II) accounting principles, methods, theories, practices, and equipment including data processing programs and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures, including identifying and analyzing internal controls.
  • Able to effectively communicate and build effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Enthusiastic learner with the desire and ability to learn and understand why you are doing things as opposed to merely following steps to complete.
  • Can meet required timelines and deadlines.
  • Collaborative and supportive team member. Works effectively with cross-functional team members within the company (level II).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
