Position Summary:

The role entails delivering quality support to designated production operations, ensuring the integrity of components and products manufactured. The focus is on driving quality enhancement initiatives with the objective of achieving zero defect performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee product quality integrity for the assigned area as an integral member of the manufacturing team.
  • Identify and interpret customer quality expectations and any regulatory/business requirements.
  • Champion quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expert analysis, guidance, and support to Production in Process Improvement activities, utilizing effective problem-solving tools and statistical analysis.
  • Manage New Product Qualification and verify changes to existing products.
  • Support external customers in New Product Introduction through the application of APQP, ensuring internal customer needs for Quality Systems are met promptly.
  • Measure results through improvements in Customer Satisfaction metrics, including Parts Per Million, incidence counts, corrective action timing and effectiveness, and customer relationship building.
  • Optimize Process Capability on significant characteristics through effective statistical analysis and training of manufacturing personnel in problem-solving techniques.
  • Apply knowledge of Inspection Equipment and Techniques to provide timely data for informed decision-making.
  • Utilize analytical skills for root cause analysis and provide corrective action recommendations.
  • Establish expertise in quality control and improvement.
  • Drive quality results and build credibility with both internal and external customers.
  • Offer advice and solutions based on thorough problem analysis and collaborative solutions.
  • Employ effective project management and problem-solving tools to reach logical conclusions.
  • Engage in continuous learning across various business aspects.
  • Support the role of quality in the overall success of the business.
  • Set priorities aligned with the business plan, maintaining focus on critical objectives.
  • Anticipate future consequences of actions and decisions.
  • Identify and communicate adverse quality trends that may affect long-term business success.
  • Provide necessary information and training for customers to perform their roles effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged information.

  • Maintain targets related to machine capability, supplier scrap, manufacturing scrap, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

A four-year degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Assurance within a metalworking environment. Proficiency in advanced quality planning, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause failure analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, and problem-solving is essential. Knowledge of IATF16949 is required, with experience in Supplier Development being advantageous. Familiarity with report writing in Microsoft Word and graphical analysis in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred, alongside experience in Minitab for statistical analysis. ASQ Certification is a plus.
