Water Resources Staff Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Staff Engineer to join our renewables team in our Denver, Minneapolis, and St. Cloud offices.

This position is responsible for supporting the permitting, design, and construction of Solar and Wind development projects.

The qualified individual will coordinate with other Civil and Water Resources Engineers to ensure projects are protected from flooding and meeting stormwater regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Stormwater design and permitting
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
  • FEMA studies using state-of-the-art technology
  • Preparation of design drawings and producing design calculations
  • Drainage design and writing technical reports
  • Development of hydrologic and hydraulic models
  • Coordination with civil, electrical, and environmental teams
  • Performing drainage calculations and designs
  • Writing technical reports documenting design methodologies
  • Assisting with site visits and inspections as needed
  • Supporting the construction stormwater team with shear stress calculations, exhibit creation, and erosion control design

Requirements include:

  • BS or MS degree in civil or water resources engineering
  • 0-4 years of experience in stormwater hydrology and modeling
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving, and organization skills
  • Ability to write technical proposals, reports, and publications
  • Previous work experience with hydraulic modeling software programs (e.g., HydroCAD, HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Flo-2D, etc.)
  • Experience using CAD and GIS software (AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS)
  • EIT, PE, CPESC, and/or CESSWI certifications preferred

Compensation range: $68,000 - $75,000 per year.
