ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Educational Innovation is pivotal in realizing Cognia's vision for education and ongoing enhancement. This role encompasses managing the ideation process, which includes environmental analysis, problem identification, research, and conceptualization of new products and services, with a focus on developing solutions that are directly linked to improved student learning outcomes. The Director collaborates with subject matter experts both within and outside the organization to ensure that Cognia's solutions and related communications are thoroughly developed and effectively support the promotion and business development of the Lab's educational offerings in the K-12 sector.
Key Activities Include:
- Collaborating with content teams, psychometricians, division colleagues, and the Research and Analytics group to design and implement data-driven research studies that support the efficacy and impact of products and services aligned with Cognia's strategic priorities.
- Overseeing the ideation, research, and refinement of solutions in partnership with colleagues and external experts.
- Maintaining a comprehensive repository of educational research literature relevant to the ideation process.
- Providing strategic leadership to build evidence of impact for the Lab's products and services across various contexts.
- Leading the collection and analysis of client feedback and spearheading reflections on feedback processes to ensure they support continuous improvement.
- Utilizing public and external data sources to benchmark and inform program outcomes and objectives.
- Evaluating programmatic and strategic initiatives at both the program and organizational levels.
- Maintaining and periodically updating evaluation infrastructure to support methods and practices for data collection on assessments.
- Proactively proposing new products and solutions based on research and evidence-based practices.
- Regularly interacting with internal technical resource groups to validate the effective use of Cognia products through statistical data analysis.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for product and solution development, presenting to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifying and developing innovative resources, products, and processes.
- Adhering to project plans, timelines, and communication protocols.
- Providing consistent updates on project status to senior leadership.
- Managing assessment products and grants, ensuring timely project completion within budget.
- Defining processes and tools to ensure efficient communication and decision-making across teams.
- Developing and supporting budgets for product development and grant proposals.
- Contributing to the RFP development process, ensuring timely submissions through stakeholder coordination.
- Offering collaborative leadership and support to team members.
- Assisting in the management of the Lab's staff and associated projects.
- Participating in interdivisional team projects as assigned.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- A Master's degree in educational research, educational leadership, or a related field is required; a PhD or EdD is preferred.
- Five to eight years of combined experience in K-12 classroom teaching and educational leadership, with a proven track record of improving educational processes.
- A minimum of five years of experience in the educational industry, including experience in K-12 educational research and assessment.
- Demonstrated understanding of K-12 educational institutions' needs and student learning effectiveness.

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong ability to manage and communicate effectively with diverse teams.
- In-depth knowledge of K-12 education challenges.
- Ability to present K-12 solutions compellingly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to engage stakeholders and build consensus around innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented.
Travel Requirements:
- Limited travel (0-10%) may be required.
- Attendance at the Annual All Staff Company Meeting is mandatory.
