- The Teacher's Aide will follow all Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Day Care regulations and policies.
- Assist the teacher in using the district adopted curriculum and materials.
- Utilize positive classroom management techniques to guide student's behavior in a structured, positive and nurturing manner.
- The Teacher's Aide will review expectations and class rules daily.
- Assist in creating and using individual behavior management plans when necessary.
- The Teacher's Aide will help in conducting assessments in accordance with school district guidelines as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records.
- Maintain a safe, clean and cheerful classroom environment, with appropriate and varied materials available to all students.
- Serve as a role model to students. Demonstrate and facilitate appropriate conflict resolution and model kindness and empathy toward others.
- Maintain flexibility as reassignment may be necessary.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 6 months of experience working in a classroom or a pre-school setting preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills required.
- Must possess the ability to communicate in a positive and empathetic manner with children.
- Spanish language fluency preferred.
- Physical activities require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of the whole body, such as bending, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, and handling of various types of materials.
- Heavy lifting may be required.
