Job Overview

Position Title: Assistant Program Director

Reports To: Program Director

Position Summary:

The Assistant Program Director plays a crucial role in guiding the team alongside the Program Director. This position is essential for assisting in staff oversight, training, and recruitment processes. The APD is tasked with ensuring that all program activities are executed in a professional and ethical manner, reflecting the core values of Resources for Human Development.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Staff Management:

  • Oversee Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Medical Staff, and Direct Support Professionals, ensuring effective daily operations and adherence to consumer plans.
  • Collaborate with the Fiscal Administrator or Office Manager to manage the recruitment process, including scheduling interviews and participating in candidate evaluations.
  • Assist the management team with documentation related to staff supervision, including performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as necessary.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct reviews of site documentation in preparation for both internal and external audits.

Financial and Operational Support:

  • Support the Unit Director in meeting licensing, funding, and budgetary requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support for both individuals and staff during challenging situations.
  • Foster an empowering environment for individuals by facilitating skill development and coordinating access to resources and support services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mental health/IDD direct service and at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Alternatively, a High School diploma with 7 years of experience in mental health/IDD direct service and 2 years of supervisory experience is acceptable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance if applicable.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to program sites as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move about while performing job duties.
  • Proficient in using a computer and standard office equipment.
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, with frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Direct Supervisor: Program Director
  • Supervises: Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Medical Staff
  • Collaborates with: Clinical Staff, Behavior Specialists, Administrative Staff
