As a Senior Patient Service Representative, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with checking in and checking out, as well as completing necessary paperwork.
  • Educate patients on post-care instructions and their healthcare coverage responsibilities.
  • Scanning medical insurance information and obtaining authorizations from insurance carriers for medications or referrals to specialists as needed.
  • Scanning lab reports, consultations, office notes, and messages for placement in appropriate charts.
  • Pulling charts for licensed practitioners or front desk staff as needed and filing completed charts appropriately.
  • Forwarding records to Bon Secours Charity Health or other parties as directed.
  • Assisting physicians in obtaining patient results and scheduling office appointments when needed.
  • Maintaining inventory of medical supplies, immunizations, and equipment to request supplies in a timely manner.
  • Performing routine maintenance of medical equipment, including logging daily temperatures of the refrigerator/freezer.
  • Logging all samples received with expiration dates, manufacturers, and lot numbers.
  • Recording all distributed samples by patient name, date, and number of samples given.
  • Checking expiration dates on all stored medications/immunizations on a weekly basis and keeping record of all expired items that are discarded.
  • Recording all injections and immunizations in medication log as well as patient chart.
  • Performing all functions as necessary for the successful implementation of the NYS immunization transmissions.
  • Handling all questions regarding the office and procedures.
  • Reviewing correspondence, memoranda, and routine reports and communicating with the Office Manager.
  • Overseeing the daily schedule for the physician.
  • Understanding and helping assure compliance with HIPAA.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of customer service and/or medical office experience preferred.
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • MA or Order entry certificate preferred.
