COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Compensation:

$17.00 per hour

Role Summary

Under the supervision of the Jobs Plus Manager, the Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for recruiting residents from public housing communities to engage in the Jobs Plus Program. This role involves sensitive interactions with clients and families to develop, monitor, and support the Jobs Plus Program, providing essential resources and referrals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit residents from housing communities to participate in the Jobs Plus Program.
  • Engage in training initiatives aimed at enhancing recruitment and marketing efforts through various media, including flyers and social platforms.
  • Conduct individual and group meetings with residents to disseminate program information.
  • Act as the Jobs Plus Program representative within the community.
  • Assist in creating both printed and digital marketing materials, ensuring their accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Participate in promotional events and marketing activities.
  • Enhance brand visibility through community engagement and word-of-mouth strategies.
  • Establish a reputation as a community leader.
  • Provide constructive feedback on new products and services.
  • Develop marketing materials for the Jobs Plus Program.
  • Conduct regular surveys and compile reports on findings.
  • Prepare and submit routine documentation as required.
  • Support the organization of program meetings, events, and activities.
  • Participate in community meetings and awareness initiatives as directed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Jobs Plus Program and the community.
  • Attend meetings as necessary while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, with flexibility to adapt to changing job requirements.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Competent in operating basic office equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective public presentations.
  • Commitment to the integrity and diversity principles of the Jobs Plus Program.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and self-motivation with a strong drive for success.
  • Ability to engage effectively with community partners, residents, and stakeholders.
  • Capability to meet program goals and benchmarks.
  • Ability to communicate the needs and changes requested by residents.
  • Must reside within the designated community areas.
  • Strong clerical, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Availability for occasional weekend and after-hours activities.
  • Good judgment in interpreting and executing policies and procedures, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with staff, participants, and the public.
  • Promote a positive image of the Authority by fostering strong relationships with residents, colleagues, and local agencies.

Physical Requirements

This position necessitates the ability to perform all physical duties associated with the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Experience and Training

A combination of education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED, along with demonstrated experience in customer service or administrative roles.
