Mental Health Care Specialist

As a Mental Health Coordinator Senior, you will provide direct care and support to patients with mental health conditions. Your role will involve working closely with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. You will be responsible for providing emotional support, educational resources, and participating in all aspects of patient care. This includes responding to crisis situations, programming, and understanding mental health issues as they affect individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health conditions.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Respond to crisis situations and provide emotional support to patients.
- Participate in all aspects of patient care, including programming and understanding mental health issues.
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients.
- Recognize escalating behaviors and attempt to redirect or refocus patients.
- Participate in development of treatment plans and interventions.
- Assist with collecting assessment data through interviews, 1:1 and group interactions/observation.
- Monitor vital signs and report observations.
- Assist with admissions and discharges.
- Perform collection of specimens from patients as delegated.
- May perform blood glucose monitoring.
- Report abnormal findings to RN.
- May facilitate/co-facilitate groups and/or activities as delegated.
- Verbalize understanding of role for patients' with legal holds/commitments and issuing patient rights.
- Bachelor's degree in social/psychological or related field required.
- 2 to 5 years experience in mental health/substance abuse patient care preferred.
- BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required Certified by American Heart Association or Allina BLS by completion of orientation.
- Code Green within 60 Days required.
