Job Objective:
To assist the Store Manager in overseeing store personnel, managing production and sales, maintaining store operations, fostering customer relationships, and ensuring accurate banking and record-keeping practices. This role supports the Manager in the daily operations of the assigned thrift store.
Key Responsibilities:

Core Duties Include:
- Assisting in the training and supervision of staff as directed.
- Participating in the recruitment and selection process for store personnel as needed.
- Aiding in staff scheduling, ensuring accuracy, and submitting payroll for processing.
- Ensuring compliance with all TSA policies and practices related to employee relations.
- Promptly forwarding all employment-related documentation to the HR Department.
- Providing training and support to beneficiaries involved in work therapy at the store.
- Supporting the implementation of strategies aimed at achieving production and sales targets.
- Overseeing the processes related to product acquisition (donations), production (sorting, hanging, pricing, and presentation), and sales.
- Supervising and demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of acquisition, production, and sales processes.
- Managing the product rotation process and ensuring timely turnover of merchandise.
- Communicating with the central warehouse to place orders for processing needs.
Assisting the manager in maintaining the store's appearance and safety standards, ensuring cleanliness and utility.
Ensuring compliance with all safety and security policies and procedures.- Monitoring adherence to display and floor layout plans, making updates as necessary.
- Identifying and discussing with the manager potential improvements to enhance store appeal to customers.
- Implementing procedures to control product shrinkage due to theft or spoilage.
Promptly reporting maintenance or repair needs to the store manager or appropriate personnel.
- Executing customer development and retention strategies.- Creating a positive shopping experience for customers.
- Interacting positively with customers, setting a standard for all staff.
- Assisting the manager with recordkeeping and reporting for the store.
- Applying TSA-approved cash handling procedures for register operations.
- Assisting in managing bank runs and deposit procedures.
- Reporting on store production and sales as assigned.
- Utilizing inventory tracking systems as directed.
Maintaining communication with the Store Manager regarding all aspects of store operations, providing updates on incidents, concerns, and suggestions; coordinating with ARC Department Heads as required.
Working alongside the store manager to ensure income and expenses remain within budget.- Managing cash handling processes in accordance with TSA policies.
Availability for a flexible schedule is required, including early shifts, late shifts, and weekends, to observe and train store employees.
Collaborating with the store manager to enhance the image of The Salvation Army within the community and among staff.
- Fostering a clear understanding of policies and procedures.- Addressing complaints and concerns by educating customers about the program and pricing.
- Safeguarding the resources under supervision.
- Implementing measures to prevent product shrinkage due to theft or spoilage.
- Controlling waste related to property, utilities, and product supplies.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
