We are seeking a highly skilled Mobility Specialist to join our team at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio. As a Mobility Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing evaluations, interventions, and accommodations to help students with special needs travel safely and independently in the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify students' mobility needs and develop individualized plans to address those needs.
- Provide IEP-based interventions and accommodations to support students' safe and independent travel in the learning environment.
- Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement strategies to promote students' mobility and independence.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in the field of orientation and mobility to ensure evidence-based practice.
- Successful completion of the national ACVREP certification exam.
- Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist certificate from the Ohio Department of Education.
- Documentation of a clear criminal record.
- Compliance with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively as a member of an educational team.
- Experience working with students with special needs in a public suburban school setting.
- Dual TVI/COMS certification is preferred.
