Position Summary

This role is pivotal in managing programs and supporting families who have previously experienced homelessness, specifically those residing in supportive housing. The primary objective is to assist families facing various challenges in maintaining stable housing, thereby contributing to the reduction of homelessness. The service coordinator will implement culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practices while integrating best practices into service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Service Coordination:

  • Manage program and service delivery.
  • Conduct applicant screenings and coordinate with property management.
  • Assist families in program entry, including orientation to expectations and paperwork.
  • Facilitate family goal setting and case planning, providing ongoing support and monitoring.
  • Organize activities for children and youth to foster family engagement.
  • Plan community-building events for families.
  • Ensure compliance with program standards and conduct necessary inspections.
  • Mediate conflicts among resident families.

Program Administration:

  • Maintain accurate records and reports for clients and funding sources.
  • Develop and update program materials and referral lists.
  • Collaborate with community partners and other internal programs.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate's degree or relevant certification required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in social services preferred, especially with at-risk populations.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Commitment to equitable service delivery and community support.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in crisis situations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and case management software.
  • Understanding of housing issues and community resources.
Work Environment

This position primarily operates in an office setting, with responsibilities extending to client residences and community agencies. Occasional travel may be required for training and meetings.

Physical Demands

The role involves a combination of desk work and light physical activity, including the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and navigate stairs.
