Job Summary

You will serve as a Plastic Fabricator Leader in the Coatings and Coverings Shop, Code 970, Production Resources Department of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The incumbent of this position will lead a group to ensure work assignments are completed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct random surveillance inspections of in-process preservation work.
  • Perform inspections of deficient coatings and work in process to ensure the Supervisor's direction is followed.
  • Determine the methods, techniques, materials, and devices best suited to obtain smooth-textured and decorative surfaces.
  • Perform Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting (UHPWJ) on the exterior of ships and submarines.
  • Prepare and direct subordinate crews to apply, manufacture and repair coating materials.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders when working aboard ships and submarines.
